Don Bosco Ashalayam, Delhi organized National Initiative for Child Protection (NICP) workshop on 29th March 2012 for sensitizing the top officers of the Delhi West &South West police on Child related issues. It saw 50 participants take a day out from their schedule to take part. Resource persons drawn from the law, Child Welfare Committee held the interest of the officers as they took them through the basis of the child at risk.

The programme was inaugurated by Fr. Edward Sacrawat, Ast. Director, Don Bosco Ashalayam. Mr. Shankaranand Jha, Coordinator of CHILD LINE West (Don Bosco Ashalayam) briefed the participants on CHILDLINE Delhi and its activities. Ms. Krinna Shah Ex- Member, Child Welfare Committee presented “Dealing with Child in Need of Care and Protection” with regard to JJ Act. Her inputs generated spirited discussion. It was followed by Mr. Chandra Suman, Legal Aid Counselor who explained on the subject “The Dealing with Juvenile in Conflict with Law” with reference to JJ Act. Ashalayam boys entertained the participants with their songs and sharing.

The workshop was jointly organized by Don Bosco Ashalayam, National Institute of Public Corporation and Child Development in collaboration with CHILDLINE India Foundation.

The programme brought together on a single platform –Police officials, CHILD LINE staff, and practitioners in various fields of Social Sector. It helped to refresh their thinking, reinvent their approach, and to unite practical knowledge in the areas of Child Protection.

YaR Day Celebration on 20.11.2011
YaR Day Celebrated at Don Bosco Anbu Illam on 20th Nov ‘2011. To Pressure the  government for the fulfilled implementation of 9% Budget allocated for Education and Health, NGos who are working for the children formed as a net work and decided to organize a rally  by the children on behalf of children to demand from govt that 9% of its budget be spend for children  for Education and Health. Children Walked through the Road shouting slogans of their rights .and                             a float was also arranged with flux all around stating the Nine is Mine Concept to creart an awareness among people.  Around 801 children including NGO Staff participated in the rally . Special invitees were MLA Mr. Challenger durai, Coimbatore Mayor Mr. S.M. Velumani.
Followed by the Rally , Children’s Were gathered at Nirmala College Auditorium and made to Play Games , Prizes were distributed for those who won in the games . After Lunch  Cultural Programmes highlighting the Child Rights were performed by the children from different NGos. Speech by children on different topics related to Child issue highlighted the Programme . Children were Enthusiastically participated in the Event and got the Knowledge about Nine is Mine Concept and it is their basic right which need to be demanded from Government..
